Abundant Life
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill,
and to destroy: I am come that they might have life,
and that they might have it more abundantly." John
10:10
The Bible states that if a man doesn't work, a man
won't eat. (2 Thes. 3:10). We agree whole-
heartedly! However, the Lord has provided some
fairly recent (to us, at least!) revelations on this
subject that have actually played a big role in the
creation of this website! He truly is amazing!
Again, we emphasize that we (Christians, in
particular) need to, not just work, but work harder
and with a higher degree of integrity, than the
secular world. At the same time, there is not much
abundance to life when one is working 80 hours a
week and neglecting everyone and everything else
in order to make ends meet.
At the same time we're working, we're supposed
to raise our children and be partners with our
spouses. The book of Proverbs has quite a bit to
say about teaching and training our children. If you
look at society today, and the direction it's headed
in, you might agree that a lot of our social problems
stem from lack of teaching at home. The Bible tells
us to raise our children. It says nothing about our
babysitters raising our kids, or our daycares or
schools raising our youth. We, the parents, are
responsible for the upbringing of our children. One
of the greatest and most important blessings the
Lord has provided for us are the very same ones
we so easily neglect!
And our spouses? Well, they're usually working
just as hard as we are...which is why no one has
time for the children. And when you both get home
from work, if you're fortunate enough to work the
same shift, you're likely too tired to enjoy each
other's company before one or the other heads off
to bed so you can do it all again tomorrow.
The sad thing is, that unless the kids are grown, or
unless you each have an exceptional job, you're
probably not making any more money than you
would from one income. By the time you pay a
babysitter or daycare for five days a week, buy two
lunches every day, drive two cars in two different
directions every day...there can't be too much left
over at the end of the week.
And for that, we sacrifice our children.
For that, we sacrifice our abundance of life...
While a great deal of this page may seem to apply
more toward the family than the single folks,
there's actually a great deal of information for both.
The truths that lie within apply to all of God's kids,
not just the married or single!
Also, please try to understand that while it deals
with money and making a living, it's not about
money or making a living at all...it's about the
abundance of life!
I know. We have bills to pay. We have to earn a
living. Or do we? What can a man do to earn
salvation? Nothing. It's a gift from God (Eph. 2:8,9).
Can a man earn healing? Nope. How about all the
other blessings God pours out? Can we earn
those? Nope. But we think we have to earn a living!
"So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving
you today—to love the LORD your God and to serve
him with all your heart and with all your soul- then I
will send rain on your land in its season, both
autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in
your grain, new wine and oil. I will provide grass in
the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be
satisfied." Deut. 11:13-15
"He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the
earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.
He provides food for the cattle and for the young
ravens when they call. His pleasure is not in the
strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of
a man; the LORD delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love." Ps 147:8-
11
"Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He
has shown kindness by giving you rain from
heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you
with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy."
Acts 14:17
"Command those who are rich in this present
world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in
wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope
in God, who richly provides us with everything for
our enjoyment." 1 Tim 6:17
"Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell
you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat;
or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more
than food, and the body more than clothes.
Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they
have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them.
And how much more valuable you are than birds!
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to
his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing,
why do you worry about the rest? Consider how
the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell
you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was
dressed like one of these. If that is how God
clothes the grass of the field, which is here today,
and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much
more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do
not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do
not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after
all such things, and your Father knows that you
need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things
will be given to you as well." Luke 12:22-31
"And my God will meet all your needs according to
his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Phil. 4:19
